Both Microsoft Windows 7 and Apple OSX feature built-in parental controls to help you with this task. Now there is no need for third-party applications that can be easy to circumvent or require costly monthly fees to maintain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-179 aligncenter\" alt=\"Proud-parents\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.network1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/l-Proud-parents-202x300.jpg\" width=\"202\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.network1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/l-Proud-parents-202x300.jpg 202w, https:\/\/blog.network1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/l-Proud-parents.jpg 580w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 202px) 100vw, 202px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Apple OSX platform you can accomplish this by creating an account for your child with his\/her own username and password (done via Accounts in System Preferences). Make sure this account is set to Standard. Select this account and check \u201cEnable Parental controls\u201d and then click the \u201cOpen Parental Controls\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p>In Parental Controls you will have options to limit what specific applications the account is allowed to use on the \u201cSystem\u201d section. To control web browsing, select \u201cContent\u201d at the top and enable the \u201cWebsite Restrictions\u201d option of your choice. You can even choose specific websites to be blocked. Other options include limiting chat and email to specific contacts and setting online time limits.<\/p>\n<p>On Microsoft Windows 7 &amp; 8 platforms you can accomplish this by creating an account for your child via \u201cUser Accounts\u201d in the Control Panel or by opening Start and typing \u201cUser\u201d. To access the Parental Controls, open Start and simply type \u201cParental\u201d and you will see the Parental Controls option appear in the \u201cControl Panel\u201d section of the results. With Windows you can select what times of day and how long your child can use the computer.<\/p>\n<p>You can also select age appropriate limits on the computer games installed on the computer or block specific programs. To greatly expand your options you can download \u201cWindows Live Family Safety\u201d, part of the Windows Live suite of free programs. By default this enables basic filtering of websites as well as specific websites.
